Kathy Kranias’ current artistic research is engaged with movement, the body, and emotion through clay sculpture. Her Invisibility Cloaks series (2018) and Growing Wings (2017) were recently purchased for the AWBZ Visual Art Collection Global Affairs Canada, and reside at the Canadian embassies in Washington D.C., Belgrade, and Beijing. Earlier sculptures are held in numerous private collections across Canada, the US, and France. Kranias’ most recent solo exhibitions include Archetypes in Clay: recent work at the David Kaye Gallery, Toronto, Canada and Becoming The Persephone at the Art Gallery of Peterborough, Canada.

Kranias earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts cum laude in Studio Art from Concordia University (1986) and Master of Arts cum laude in Art History from York University (2015). She is a recipient of the SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Master’s Scholarship and several Ontario Arts Council Grants.

Kranias served as studio faculty in the Craft and Design Diploma Program at Sheridan College, Canada from 2004-2012. She has contributed essays, articles, and reviews on Canadian art and craft to numerous publications, including The Journal of Modern Craft, Journal of Canadian Art History, Stained Glass Quarterly, Studio Magazine, and the recent book A Thousand Colours- Sarah Hall Glass (2017).
